Telemark Fylke

"Telemark in Norway is the soft, the docile, the changing, the home of your dreams, the home of the wood nymph; the home of folk songs, folk music, home to the most beautiful dialects in the country, the only language for a living culture of written tradition, language and culture through the long and difficult times".    Vetle Vislie

Telemark is a fylke, or county, in southeastern Norway. It extends from the Hardangervidda to the Skagerrak coast. The fylker of  Vestfold, Buskerud, Hordaland, Rogaland and Aust-Agder are its neighbors. The terrain of the county is rugged, with many steep mountains and sheltered valleys.  Its administrative headquarters is in the port of Skien.
