Organizations

  • Norwegian-American Bygdelagenes Fellesraad - Telelaget is a member of this umbrella organization for all Norwegian bygdelags. The website provides contact information and links to all of the lags' websites.

  • Norwegian-American Foundation  has as its mission fostering communication and cooperation among Norwegian-American organizations and strengthening ties with Norway

  • Norwegian-American Historical Association has a home at St. Olaf College in Northfield, Minnesota.  It houses a rich collection of historical information, much of which is catalogued and/or available on-line.

  • Nordmann's Forbundet (Norse Federation) is a non-profit organization that seeks to strengthen cultural and personal ties between Norway and Norwegians, their descendants and friends abroad.

  • Vesterheim Norwegian-American Museum in Decorah IA has an extensive collection of Norwegian-American artifacts. Along with sponsoring classes and events on its Decorah campus, it makes its Civil War database of Norwegian soldiers available on-line.

  • Norwegian-American Genealogical Center & Naeseth Library in Madison, Wisconsin built on the resources collected by founder Gerhard Naeseth and provides access to both comprehensive paper and electronic databases of information about Norwegian immigrants, their ancestors, and their descendants.

  • Telemark Historielag  partners with Telelaget to plan events in both Telemark and America(website in Norwegian)
  • The Hardanger Fiddle Association of America and the Twin Cities Hardingfelelag are both organizations committed to assuring that the art of playing Norway's Hardanger fiddle is enjoyed and passed on to the next generation of Norwegian-Americans.
