Telelaget's 100th Anniversary Telemark Tour

Our "Coming Back Home" anniversary tour of Telemark was organized by Elaine Nordlie from Dassel, Minnesota, and Anne Haugen Wagn, Harald Omnes and Ingebjørg Sperre from Telemark. Forty-one people participated in the tour which included visits in Oslo and a number of Telemark towns including Bolkesjø, Rjukan, Morgedal, Tuddal, Seljord, Ulefos, Vrådal, Dalen, Eidsborg, Bø, and Kviteseid. Various historical sites, churches, and bygdemuseums in these communities were also visited. Many participants found the most meaningful part of the tour were visits to their ancestral homes.

A 116-page 2007 Telemark Tour Book, edited by Alice Kirn,  includes an overview of the tour and stories written by tour participants of their experiences related to visits to their ancestral homes. Even those who didn’t have an opportunity to participate in the tour will find the accounts and many colored pictures of interest. It will also give a perspective for those who may be contemplating being part of the next tour offered in 2012.
