Additional Information: Ole was a one-year-old when he came to America with his parents Halvor Høljesen Haave (b.1821) and Øli (Eli) Torgrmsdtr Smedshus (b.1835).  When his father, Halvor, disappeared, his mother remarried and Ole grew up as an only child with his mother and step-father.  It is unknown why Ole took the surname of Thompson – he was confirmed as Ole Halvorson.  Unfortunately, Ole died at age 27 leaving his widow and three small children.  I’d still like to find out when Halvor died and where he is buried.
