Evan Hansen Heg was born May 17, 1789. He
came to America from Lier, near Drammen, in 1840 and led a party of about 40
settlers to the Muskego Settlement in the fall of 1840.
A trading post was opened on his farm, and the
Heg barn became a social center in the early years of the community. Evan
Heg
continued to play a leading role in the community until his death on August 17,
1850. He was the father of Civil War hero Hans Christian Heg.
